Admitted Graduate Students
Congratulations on your acceptance to The Graduate School at Lenoir-Rhyne University. Welcome to the LR community.
We want to be sure you are informed and supported as you finalize your enrollment. You will have an opportunity to seek answers to any questions you may have at The Graduate School Student Orientation, your program orientation and in the online enrollment Q&A offered prior to each semester.
We want to help you be successful as you begin your graduate studies; please stay in communication with your enrollment counselor to ensure the remainder of your enrollment process goes smoothly.
Enrollment Deposit
In addition to confirming your intent to attend Lenoir-Rhyne University, your enrollment deposit triggers the generation of your student account information. Your enrollment deposit allows you to register for classes, obtain a student ID and register your vehicle parking pass.
The most efficient way to pay your enrollment deposit is online. You will be prompted to log in to your application portal. You will then need to select the link to submit your graduate deposit.
For incoming LTSS students, log into your Slate account and use the LTSS Commitment tab.
Graduate Student Orientation
Graduate students are encouraged to view all orientation information via the orientation class module (provided to you after course registration). This information will help you learn about the many offerings and opportunities available to you as a student at LR, including student support and wellness center, career services, library services and more. You will also learn about Title IX, safety and security, FERPA and many other student safeguards.
Information & Resources
-
Student Accounts
You will have a student email account, a self-service portal (myLR) and a course management system (Canvas), all accessible through your student portal. Your username and password for these accounts are generated after submission of your enrollment deposit.
These accounts are not created until six weeks before the term start date; you may expect to receive correspondence during this window about two weeks after you submit your deposit. You may then download your LR account letter via your admission portal.
Tuition & Billing
Please note that statements are not mailed but will be accessible through your student portal, myLR self-service. If you are receiving financial aid or have set up a payment plan, your anticipated payment information will appear on your bill.
The Office of Student Accounts can answer questions about billing, payment plans, disbursement dates and direct deposit of excess funds. They may also be able to assist you with any payments made on your behalf from a third party. If you have questions regarding your bill or your student account, you may contact Janet McKee, director of student accounts, at lj.mckee@eduftp.net.

Health Forms and Immunization Records
Immunization Records
- North Carolina law requires students registered for more than four day credit hours in on-campus courses at any college or university to receive certain vaccines. Students are also encouraged to have the immunizations recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That way, you’re fully protected from vaccine-preventable diseases. Recommended vaccines include flu, Hepatitis A, HPV and COVID.
- Graduate Students in the following programs are also required to submit immunization records due to their participation in clinical and/or site visits to medical facilities.
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP/FNP and Post-Masters DNP)
- Occupational Therapy (MS)
- Dietetic Internship (DI Certificate and MS Nutrition, DI)
- Physician Assistant Studies (MS)
- Proof of required immunizations must be submitted via your admission portal by the first day of class. Immunization records that remain incomplete following 30 days of enrollment will result in dismissal from class until immunization requirements are met.
Medical Forms
- Lenoir-Rhyne University College of Health Science students within specific programs requiring clinical and/or site visits at medical facilities are required to submit the Medical Clearance Form via your admission portal by the first day of class.
- Nursing (BS)
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP/FNP and Post-Masters DNP)
- Occupational Therapy (MS)
- Dietetic Internship (DI Certificate and MS Nutrition, DI)
- Physician Assistant Studies (MS)

Academic Advisor
Your academic advisor will work with you to create a curriculum plan for your program of study. In most programs, your program coordinator also serves as your academic advisor; at LTSS, the academic dean will assign you an advisor. You will register for your first semester’s courses after consulting with your advisor.

Financial Aid & Payment Plans
Financial aid is available in the form of Unsubsidized Direct Loans for graduate students in a degree program. To receive federal loans, you will need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to include LR’s school code: 002941. You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.
Your federal loan application is not complete until you submit your Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note. These documents can be completed electronically at studentaid.gov.
Financial aid funds will not arrive before your semester begins. Disbursement dates are scheduled after the drop/add date of a semester, and the timely disbursement of any excess funds is contingent upon completion of all financial aid documents. The most efficient way for you to receive any excess financial aid is to sign up for direct deposit of your funds via eRefund on myLR self-service, your online student portal. If you do not sign up for eRefund, any excess funds will automatically be mailed as a paper check and may be delayed. Keep in mind that regardless of your delivery option, it will take several weeks for any excess funds to arrive.
If you do not wish to use federal financial aid, you also have the option of a payment plan. You may arrange a payment plan through the Office of Student Accounts; however, the fastest way to sign up is via myLR.
Contact your graduate admission counselor or go to graduate cost and financial aid for more information.
